 | 05:30 pm - Government 101 An excellent brief on types of government. I just hope my more liberal readers can overcome their short (American Idol) attention spans and actually learn something.

Wow...
That's different than the School House Rock version of the Three Ring Circus? The SHR only explains the format of our government, this explains where it comes from and why.
I know things aren't as simple as a 10 minute video, but I think I understand you a bit better now.
Thank you for this.
that's actually what I was hoping for. People may not agree with this, but at least they should know where I'm coming from now...
Well, frankly I don't see how they can really disagree with it? I mean, it is what it is?
It is my fervent hope...that Obama is a heck of a lot smarter than everyone gives him credit for, and that he can find a proper path through this. He's got a LOT of history for examples, and so far, he's struck me as someone who can learn from his mistakes, and the mistakes of others.
The whole gun business scared the hell out of me, but it's turning out that was a either a red herring or a fluke. Sure, he may "stand behind" Eric Holder, but that was before he turned into a manure spreader. Pelosi seems to have reined him in for now, and the Dems are scrambling for damage control.
And so far, I don't see Obama doing much scrambling himself. I see some frustration, definitely, but the vibe I'm getting is that there is quite a bit of behind-the-scenes ass-chewing going on. I'm starting to think that this administration is going to be even more secretive than Bush, but NOT on matters of state. I'm sensing some ass-whuppings behind closed doors.
I hope I'm not wrong. I hope that's what I'm feeling, and that it's not just "wishful thinking".
We'll see. I know I'm going to be watching a bit more carefully from now on. |
